welcome to my website

Even though I have been designing and developing websites for other people for over 8 years, this is the first time I actually have my own, personal site up and running. It is going to be a continuous work in progress as I add to my blog, wishlist and portfolio. I hope it gives those who stop by a small glimpse at who I am and what I've done.

So, make yourself at home and come by as often as you'd like. Friends are always welcome!

Going to Hawaii

We’ve decided that we are going to spend our 3rd anniversary in Hawaii!

Yes, I realize this is kind of short notice, since we will be leaving on March 26 (one day after our anniversary), but that seems to be how Devin and I work.  Most of our vacations tend to be last minute deals.  We’ll be staying at one of our timeshare resorts in Kauai and I found a pretty good deal on flights, so here we go!

We haven’t been to Kauai before and have been told it is one of the best and most relaxing of the Hawaiian islands.  This will be our first vacation/trip since Connor was born (which is very unusual for us, we tend to take trips of a pretty regular basis).  So, I’m pretty excited.

Now we just have to figure out what we are going to do with Connor…take him with us, or leave him with Grandma???

Started the New Job

Well, today was my first day as a User Support Services Technician.  :)  There are still a few things I need to learn and pickup on, but overall I am already able to answer the phones and help.  Luckly, things are winding down for the end of the semester and the holiday break.  It should give me plenty of time to get ramped up for the busy times at the beginning of the semester in mid-January.

It’s really nice being back in technology.

MCAS Certifications

I’ve been meaning to take the Microsoft Certified Application Specialist tests for quite some time now. I’ve been working in the Microsoft Office Suite for many years and have taken several classes on it. Well, the User Support position here at Butte has finally given me the push I needed to get them done.

I was a little nervous at first, since the tests would be done in Office 2007. I’ve been using 2007 for about 8 months on my work computer, but have yet to upgrade my home computer. Overall, the biggest difference just seems to be the ribbon. That makes it a bit easier, other than re-learning where everything is :) This helped me feel better about taking the tests on such short notice, since I wouldn’t have much time to study.

Apparently, the nerves were unwarranted! I have now passed both the Microsoft Word and Excel 2007 exams. I am really happy to have finally met this goal. Next come the rest of the exams…Access, PowerPoint and Outlook!
